Update on work of community safety patrol officers last week

Last week our community safety patrol officers dealt with 70 incidents, with the majority of incidents related to antisocial behaviour and littering. This included a number of instances of dangerous litter such as smashed glass and a hypodermic needle.

As well as patrols in busier areas of the borough, such as parks and open spaces, the team supported partners in the town centre with an increased presence following the opening of non-essential businesses from Monday 15 June.

Following incidents in Brighton Hill and South Ham over the weekend, our community safety patrol team is supporting police colleagues to provide high visibility patrols in these areas and reassure residents in these communities.

Mayor’s message to Reading

Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Cllr Diane Taylor has written to the Mayor of Reading Cllr David Stevens on behalf of the borough to express deepest sympathy to all of those affected by the attacks in Reading over the weekend.
