Bidding begins on Homebid

People on the council’s housing register are now able to start bidding for social rented homes again on our choice based lettings bidding system Homebid, which was paused in March following guidance from the government.

The first bidding cycle is under way, running from midnight on Thursday 2 July to midnight on Monday 6 July and every week after this. There are currently 39 properties to bid on ranging from one bedroom flats to three bedroom houses, included within this are bungalows and homes for over 55s.

Some businesses to reopen on 4 July

Some pubs, restaurants and hairdressers are set to reopen on Saturday 4 July, and we've been working with them to ensure that they have the appropriate safety measures in place.

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead of their visits as businesses may have made changes such as introducing a booking system, reducing their opening hours and altering their layout and seating arrangements.

Recycling banks destroyed by fire

Two paper and cardboard recycling banks at Stratton Park are being removed today after they were destroyed by a fire last Friday.

The incident has been reported to the police and further work is taking place to determine if the recycling banks can be replaced.

Residents can continue to recycle paper and cardboard at home in their green bins or at another council-owned recycling site. To find your nearest council-owned recycling site, use the button below.
