Council tax support

We're putting support measures in place for residents who may struggle to pay their council tax as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. Everyone paying by instalment will automatically be moved to paying 10 month instalments starting from June and working age residents supported through our Council Tax Reduction Scheme will receive up to an additional £150 reduction to their bill. These changes will be automatically applied, you do not need to do anything further. Support for rough sleepers 

Working with the Basingstoke and Deane Social Inclusion Partnership, we have continued our focus to provide vital assistance to rough sleepers and those at risk of rough sleeping during the COVID-19 outbreak. Safe and secure places have been offered to those people known to be rough sleeping, alongside the continued support of the outreach team and other services and charities within the social inclusion partnership. Parks, playgrounds and outdoor exercise equipment

Our play area team is visiting all 150 council owned play areas in the borough today and tomorrow to close them and put up signage. This follows the government’s announcement to close playgrounds and outdoor exercise equipment to help stop the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).  We are working with the parishes to support them in the closure of their play areas as well. Our parks remain open for you to enjoy a safe daily walk or run to get essential exercise – but please keep at least two metres apart from others.

Help support vulnerable people

Have you set up a group to support vulnerable residents in the borough staying at home or would you like to volunteer to help? We're partnering with Basingstoke Voluntary Action (BVA) to co-ordinate support for vulnerable residents during the COVID-19 outbreak, to build on the significant community work already taking place across the borough and provide a source of further information and guidance.
