Last chance to apply for a small business grant

If you haven't yet applied to the council's small business grant scheme, you'll need to be quick as applications close at 4.30pm on Friday 5 June.

The grants support small and micro businesses in the borough impacted by COVID-19. Businesses are eligible for a grant of up to £10,000 if they:

  • have fewer than 50 employees
  • occupy a property or rent part of a property with a rateable value below £51,000
  • are incurring fixed property overhead costs and experiencing a significant loss of income.

This money is a grant and you will be taxed on it as income, but do not have to repay it, so don't miss out if you think you might be eligible.

Businesses will need to provide further details and can apply using the button below.

Don't be antisocial while being social

We've noticed an increase in litter left in our parks and open spaces with more socially distanced meetings taking place following the changes in government guidance.

If the bins are full, please find another one, or take your litter home with you. Litter is unsightly, potentially dangerous and harmful to our wildlife and environment.

Dropping litter is an offence and can result in a Fixed Penalty Notice of £75, with further costs if found guilty in court.

If you spot any litter, please report it to us using the button below.

Volunteers' Week 2020

To celebrate Volunteers' Week 2020, we’re shining a light on the borough's fantastic volunteers who use their own time to support our communities and vulnerable residents.

Posts on our social media pages this week will highlight some of our residents' voluntary work, including by some of our staff members who carry out community, medical and youth work alongside their day jobs.

To read our first post that focuses on the voluntary work undertaken by Shirley, one of our engineers, take a look at our Facebook page using the button below.
