The council is now consulting on proposals for its budget for the next four years. These proposals are known as the Medium Term Financial Strategy 2019/20 to 2022/23.

The official Basingstoke and Deane page can be found here:  Budget consultation 2019/2020

Comments on these proposals can be made via an online survey here (paper copies and other alternative formats can be provided on request, for example, Braille or CD – contact details are provided below).

Feedback from the consultation will be considered before finalising this budget strategy at the Council meeting on Thursday 28 February 2019.

The strategy sets out how we plan to use our resources to support the council plan priorities of:

  • preparing for controlled and sustainable growth,
  • improving residents’ quality of life
  • and supporting those that need it

as outlined in the Council Plan 2016 to 2020.

We are proposing balanced budget plans for the next four years to keep us in a robust and strong financial position so that we can:

  • protect front line services and give the best value for residents
  • look after the borough’s assets
  • give vulnerable people the support they need
  • invest in shaping the way the borough grows to bring good jobs and high quality of life
  • transform services through the use of technology and support the borough's digital future.

Specific details of our proposed budget were agreed for consultation at the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday 13 November and are available in the Cabinet report.
