Proposed Bramley Frith Solar Farm

Enso Energy, through its subsidiary company Bramley Solar Limited, is proposing to develop a solar farm and battery storage facility on land at Bramley Frith, Silchester Road, Bramley, Hampshire, RG26 5DG.

ARMY TRAINING EXERCISES

Soldiers from Aldershot will be conducting necessary training exercises on the Bramley Training Areas between 2300Hrs and 0700 Hrs on the following dates: 10th to 13th August 2020. During these periods up to 40- 50 Soldiers from Aldershot will be exercising.These exercises form an essential element in the training of for their development. The exercises will include the use of blank ammunition and a degree of battlefield noise simulation.

Parish Council Grants - 2019/2020

Over the last year, the Parish Council has given a number of grants to local organisations and projects. The bulk of the income we receive is the Parish precept, which is gathered on our behalf by Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council via your council tax. Whilst some of this covers the Council’s day to day costs, the rest is put straight back into the community. The grants given out in 2019-20 are as follows:

Bramley Youth Club - £9928 for the Youth Workers’ salaries
Little Apples – £1000 towards a new play surface
Bramley Cricket Club - £3500 towards the cost of a new cricket pitch roller
Cross House - £4466 towards a new floor cleaner and an update to the fire safety equipment
Clift Meadow Pavilion - £2998 for new security gates
Bramley School Association - £1200 towards the 2019 fete
Victim Support - £100 towards costs in supporting Bramley residents
Bramley Speedwatch - £202 for insuring equipment
Tadley Citizens Advice - £1500 towards costs in supporting Bramley residents
Bramley School Association - £1500 towards the school fireworks event
Piam Brown Ward, Southampton Hospital - £500 donation in memory of Oliver Ward
Muddy Fingers - £500 for an extension to their growing space
Community Speedwatch - £922 for additional equipment

We are also supporting Bramley organisations and residents through the current Covid-19 crisis. Grants so far this year (2020-21) are:

Bramley Volunteers - £80 for the cost of the Covid-19 information sheet
Bramley Food Bank - £500 towards either food vouchers or school uniform vouchers for those family suffering financial hardship as a result of the lockdown
Little Apples - £181 per week for hall rental. Little Apples are continuing to open for the children of key workers, and have seen a significant drop in their income as a result.
Little Apples - £400 towards the cost of a replacement fence around the play area
Tadley Citizens Advice - £1000 towards the cost of setting advisers up with home working. Citizens Advice offer invaluable services to a number of Bramley residents, and of course, the wider community

Clift Meadow Playground - Update 1st June 2020

The Clift Meadow Playground will be undergoing major refurbishment work for two weeks commencing Monday 1st June 2020. The existing area is to be expanded, with the existing equipment to be replaced by a variety of new equipment aimed at a range of ages and abilities. Once the refurbishment is complete, the playground will be made available to all in accordance with the lockdown procedures in place at that time. A grand opening ceremony is planned, hopefully for later in the year.

This Bramley Parish Council initiative has been supported by the Local Infrastructure Fund from Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council, and our thanks go out to them for their assistance.

Update from Clift Meadow Surgery: 15th May 2020

I wanted to update you all on the massive changes we have had in General Practice in such a short time. Across the 15 Basingstoke practices we have had to provide provision for 3 streams of work with regard to coronavirus risk. These are coded as green , amber and red sites.

Green sites see patients for routine, non infectious but essential work eg childhood immunisations, pregnant women, blood tests/injections/wound care.
Amber sites are for unwell patients who do not have COVID symptoms - malaise, abdominal pain, chronic disease complications.
Red sites are for any suspected COVID patients to be assessed to see if they need admission or can be managed and supported at home. There is a home visiting arm to this site to assess patients who are housebound or shielding safely whereby black cabs have been rented to drive the GPs and nurses around with a safe barrier between driver and clinician.

At the Clift we have divided the surgery in half such that the dispensary is a green site and waiting room for green category patients and the reception end is amber where after a telephone call, if a patient with any condition not suspected to be coronavirus will be seen in their car if appropriate - or brought straight into a room to be assessed with full PPE worn. No red category patients are seen at The Clift.

The red site is CAMROSE Surgery in South Ham where the surgery is staffed by all Basingstoke GPs on a prorata basis. The patients asked to attend this site are seen in their car in marquis tents or brought into the building if this is not feasible. There is another red case at Hook for triaging and dispatching home visits, again managed by a rota of all Basingstoke GPs whereby black cabs have been commissioned to provide a safe barrier between driver and clinician in driving to patients who are housebound or shielding.

There is no Self referral or walk in ability at any of these sites so to manage we have totally transferred our workload to telephone and video consultation clinics whereby we try to manage patients remotely where safe to do so but also can see and assess them in a safe and considered manner where clinical assessment is necessary. We are adopting econsults for sick notes and medication queries with the ambition to expand this further to provide accessibility in these strange times.

There is a lot we have learnt is these rapidly changing times and we all miss seeing our patients. However, working more collaboratively with wider GP surgeries has bred a desire to continue the positive consequences of these changes. We all feel the face of General Practice will change going forward but need to be mindful of how our patients understand this and help mould it. In this crisis our patient population has embraced all the changes without argument as needs must. We are, in house, trying to harness what we like and dislike about all this to help form a permanent way of working. We'd like to get the perspective from the patients we serve about their likes and dislikes about the changes so far, so we hope to run a survey via the Patient Participation Group shortly"

Clift Surgery Update

The Clift surgery is open as normal. Normal hours, GP appointments are by phone and or video.

The dispensary is open . Prescription collection is 08.30-1000h for over 70 and vulnerable, 1400-1830h for everyone else.

The surgery will also be open as normal on the two bank holidays in May – Friday 8 May and Monday 25 May.

Engineering work – Bramley Station, Platform extension

Network Rail will be carrying out essential work between 3rd May 2020 and 27th June 2020.
The work is scheduled to take place at the weekends but may be subject to change due to the current COVID-19 situation.

Network Rail will be demolishing part of the existing platforms 1 & 2, then lengthening them to accommodate Great Western Railways longer 4 car trains at this station. While carrying out the work, there will be a site compound located in the land adjacent to platform 1.

Work will take place as follows:

Network Rails work plans have been risk reviewed to comply with the current social distancing measures.

For reasons of safety, this type must be carried out while trains are not running. Network Rail are contractually obliged to work, whenever possible, at times that cause the least disruption to train services. Unfortunately, this means carrying out a lot of our improvements during the night and at weekends.

Due to the nature of this work and the machinery being used, some disturbance will be unavoidable. Network Rail sincerely apologise for any disturbance and inconvenience this essential work may cause.

All staff working on site are fully briefed on working responsibly in the local community and keeping noise levels to an absolute minimum level.

Sky Lantern Warning

Recently, a sky lantern company came up with the idea of releasing sky lanterns in support of NHS workers in addition to the weekly 'clapping celebration'.

Sky lantern use is actually banned on Council property by many UK Councils, including Hampshire. The National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) has also suggested that the campaign to light sky lanterns for the NHS is 'misguided'. The NFCC does not advocate the use of sky lanterns and believes they should not be used under any circumstances.
