Council tax reminders

Text and paper reminders have been sent to households who are currently in council tax arrears. This does not include payments for the 2020/21 year as payments have been suspended until June 2020.

We have a duty to inform residents if their accounts are in arrears but we understand this is a difficult time and people may not be able to pay this. The notifications have been sent to remind affected residents and encourage them to contact us so we can support them to make further arrangements.

If residents have arranged a payment plan with us via direct debit, these have been stopped for April and May and they will need to make a manual payment for these months. For anyone who is concerned about paying their outstanding bill, we are encouraging them to visit www.basingstoke.gov.uk/offer to arrange a payment plan. If you receive any queries from residents in your ward, please direct them to this webpage.

Managing your waste during fortnightly collections

A new newsletter focusing on what can be recycled and how to reduce the amount of waste residents put in their grey bin has been added to our website’s COVID-19 information sharing page. This newsletter is one of a series of important updates from the council for people who are not online. It is designed to be printed off and posted through doors – following the social distancing guidance – or relayed over the phone or by text.

Please remember to wash your hands before printing the paper and putting it through someone's door and also make sure you wash your hands after delivering. The newsletter can be viewed at https://www.basingstoke.gov.uk/covid-19-information-sharing
